Health authorities say that suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the world. It has even reached the top 20 causes of death for all ages among countries. The number of people who kill themselves every year has reached a million, according to World Health Organization (WHO). At age of 42, Gary Speed, manager of the Wales national team, has called it quits. He was famous for being a great midfielder. Speed has never been tagged as someone who is depressed and has not even filed a Zoloft lawsuit on his life.
His death has elicited sighs of disbelief, not only from fans but also from close friends and family. He taking his life was the last thing on everybody’s mind. He left a widow and two teenage sons to face questions about his death. Most fans were at a loss. The life that Speed had led was a truly remarkable one. Issues with depression has never been present in his life, says Hayden Evans, his talent agent and close friend. At around 7:00 in the morning, the wife of Speed, Louise, found her husband hanging in their garage. The reason behind the hanging of Speed was not shared to the public. The last appearance before his death was at a BBC1 Football Focus show on the eve of his death. Dan Walker, a presenter on BBC1, has said that he was in his “bubbly” mood when he was at the studio.
The untimely death of Gary Speed has caused an outpouring of tribute for the late footballer. As fans mourned the loss of a great player, they have brought tributes to the place where he used to play and outside his house. The tributes that they brought were jerseys, scarves, flowers and photographs that they had of the late footballer. His death was asked to be spared from sensational press coverage.
