The young players most likely enjoy the game of soccer when they are continuously scoring goals. When planning your practice schedule, you can include youth soccer drills that offer numerous opportunities to players to score goals.

Let them take advantage of all opportunities during small sided games, full field scrimmages, and shooting drills. In kids soccer drills, keep on varying the procedures in small sided games and full field scrimmages with a view to encourage players to score more.

Another option is to incorporate games that can do without a goalkeeper or where his movement can be limited to a given area. The idea of adding more goals or broadening those that are already being used also works well when the intent is to add to the number of goals scored.

When young players improve in their shooting technique and the tactical knowledge about the shooting techniques, the chances of goal production are increased manifold. Like passing skills, players should be educated on shooting techniques early in their career. And then these can be practiced more seriously at any time during the later stages of player’s growth.

In youth soccer practice, one of the most effective ways to improve shooting skills is through using drills. In order to effectively score goals, shooting drills help in developing shooting skills of the players. However, make sure that your player’s develop their shooting skills gradually.

Different forms of youth soccer drills can be designed with a view to perk up the shooting skills of players by including the following strings in them;

1. Stationery player shooting a static ball.

2. Stationery ball shot by a moving player.

3. A static player shooting a moving ball.

4. A moving player shooting a moving ball.

In youth soccer coaching, players should be taught how to strike the ball properly while shooting. Most players have the habit of taking shots from a close range and the inside of their feet. The leads to enhancement in the shooting abilities.

In situations when a lot more power is required, the players should be trained to use the instep of their foot to strike the ball. While their toes should point downwards, the ankles should be locked.

The elevation of the shoot is affected by the placement of the non-kicking foot. Teach the players that they should keep their non-kicking foot a little ahead of the ball. This will keep the shot down. Make sure that the players are focused on striking the ball. You can do this by eliminating all distractions like moving players and moving balls.

As their shooting technique improves, keep introducing the level of difficulty in the games. For example; when their shooting competence improves, serve balls at various levels and speed.
